The staff at BBLC hope everyone had a fun, safe, wonderful summer!!


Here are some updates form BBLC -

~Welcome new middle school/high school teacher: Taylor Phillips

~Monica Parris will not longer be teaching due to teaching full-time at a local school; however she has agreed to be on our Advisory Board & Prayer Team.

~Terrie Collins has been subbing for us since April but is now working full time with us as an elementary teacher.

~Jason Sturkie will no longer be serving on our Advisory Board due to scheduling restraints.

~ We have a new Prayer Warrior: Rainee Bowser.

~ Sherylan Batson will be assuming responsibility for the new position of Administrative Secretary. She will begin her new position August 24th.

We now have GED Prep Sessions every Saturday, beginning September 12th running through October 17th. The cost is $25.00 per session if you pay "at the door" or $125. if you pay when you pre-register.

We hope you have had a great summer - thus far. We would like to introduce some new "faces" at BBLC - Heather Evans has been with us since June. She is our Middle School & High School advisor and Math expert (although she helps in all areas). Abby Potter is our resident student intern. She will graduate this year with a degree in Elementary Education. Terrie Collins has been subbing since April for us in the elementary school level. Rainee Bowser is our newest addtion to our Prayer Team. Welcome Ladies.

Special Olympics - If you are interested in helping with or entering your child in Special Olympics, please contact Kirby King at KirbyKing@earthlink.net - note: Kirby lives in Greenwood; however, at this point in time the Special Olympics is held in Greenville.

Local Support for Parents of Special Needs Children - Respite Care for Parents of Special Needs Children - February 14th from 5:30-8:30pm at Calvary Chapel in Greenwood. There will be coffee and dessert in one area of the church for parents while childcare is provided in another part of the church. They will provide a stress free space to sit, read, relax. They will watch the special needs kids and their siblings! Take a break on Valentine's Day! E-mail Connie Post at post@@nctv.com to register your children.

"Church" for the Special Parent - For those of you who would like to attend church but it just isn't working out with your special needs child, there is an option. Discovering Hope Support Group is offering a Bible Study the 2nd and 4th Sunday evenings of each month, beginning February 8th. It will start at 5 pm and meet at Health Solutions. Michael Post will be leading the Bible Study: "Leaving Normalville - Finding Joy on the Path God Takes You." Come when you can - no judgement - no raised eyebrows. Meet Our Staff:

Bridget Bonetti - Director: Married for 24 years, has 7 children, and is working on her BASS/ED degree. After graduation, this year, she will travel to VA. to be trained with NILD (National Institute for Learning Development). Mrs. Bonetti has worked with special needs children for more than ten years.

Sherylan Batson - SEARCH & TEACH Specialist: Married for 20 years, has 3 children. Their oldest is graduating this year from Greenwood Christian School. Sherylan has worked with children in many capacities for more than nine years.

Monica Parris- Math, ETC. - Mrs. Parris is a graduate of Lee University with a BA in Human Development and a MA in Elementary Education. She is married to Brent and has 2 children. She is currently teaching full-time at Greenwood Christian School.

We continue to be amazed at how the Lord is blessing the Learning Center. We've doubled our enrollment and have help from American Heritage Girls(http://www.ahgonline.org) with reading and homework for the "after school" students. Next week we will introduce our staff.
